Deputy Hasmik Hakobyan Participates in Event Held at YSU Faculty of Journalism
1 / 19

On September 1, on the occasion of Knowledge Day, the MP Hasmik Hakobyan visited Yerevan State University and participated in the event organized at the faculty of Journalism. Hasmik Hakobyan, congratulating the students on September 1, noted:

“I am a journalist by profession and I am happy to meet you today, future journalists.

As in the years of my admission, so now, the faculty is female-dominated, and like me before, many of you have probably been admitted to the faculty of journalism to become a broadcaster. However, I assure you by my example that, when you start to study the real journalism, it is impossible not to fall in love with this profession. I, for example, changed my mind during the student years and became an investigative journalist.

The first thing that you will know, and which is one of the most important facts, is that you are the fourth power. I want you to take a responsible approach to your profession and mission, never forget that you can both harm and save with the profession activities. Always remember that you deal with human destinies.

Unfortunately, today the media field has left its very essence. Today, journalists and editors run mostly after scandals, because they have a mania of getting many views, as well as they do not avoid to place orders. If one day you decide to get involved in politics, leave the journalism as my example to maintain impartiality.

Please, attach importance to academic education, never stop educating yourself, use your right to get education, so as years later, when we have the opportunity to meet again, I will be proud of your achievements and professional qualities.”
